Mercury High Performance Gear Lube is engineered to protect marine gearcases operating under high load, high RPM, and extreme conditions. Its advanced SAE 90 formula provides exceptional film strength, reducing gear wear, preventing pitting, and resisting water intrusion, corrosion, and foaming. Designed specifically for marine environments, it maintains viscosity across a wide temperature range for smoother shifting, quieter operation, and extended gearcase life.
Suitable for use in Mercury and Mariner outboards from 2 hp up to 400 hp, with the exception of V10 outboards which require a different lubrication specification. This gear lube is also recommended for most Mercury and Mariner 2-stroke and 4-stroke lower units, as well as many jet drives and sterndrives where SAE 90 High Performance Gear Lube is specified.
Typical gearcase capacities (approximate and model dependent):
- Small outboards (2–30 hp): up to 300 mL
- Mid-range outboards (40–90 hp): 450–700 mL
- Large outboards (115–200 hp): 900–1,000 mL
- High-horsepower outboards (225–400 hp): check your maual
- MerCruiser Alpha/Bravo sterndrives: 2 to 3.5L depending on model and bottle type
